School Uniform Information

Altamonte Elementary School

As we look toward the 2016-2017 school year, we are excited to announce a new uniform policy for all students in grades K-5. Research studies have shown that students in uniform achieve at a significantly higher scholastic level than those schools without uniforms. In addition, studies also report that discipline problems drop dramatically in uniform schools, once students are able to focus on academics rather than fashion.

The new Altamonte Elementary uniform will become part of your student’s wardrobe beginning August 10, 2016. Beginning that date, Altamonte students should wear the uniform Monday – Thursday, with casual dress on Fridays. SCPS does not require uniforms to be purchased or worn.  Rather, input from the majority of parents supports this initiative.  Therefore, we will proceed and appreciate your continued support by having your children wear the uniforms according to the schedule above.

School uniforms will be easy to purchase at local stores like Wal-Mart, JCPenney, Sears and Target. The uniform will consist of:

--White, Red, or Blue (navy preferred) collared

            ‘polo style’ shirts

--Blue, Black, or Khaki/Tan long pants or shorts; jeans are OK

--Belts, closed-toe shoes/sneakers, and socks are required.

(No sandals or flip flops—due to safety reasons)

We are looking into having an optional iron on patch available for purchase that has our school logo and name.  Information will come home when those are available.  We wanted to share this information with you now, so that you would have it for sales and school shopping over the summer.

We appreciate your continued support and flexibility as we begin a new initiative designed to help our students focus and achieve their maximum potential. If you have any questions, please call the Altamonte office at 407.746.2950
